Young Seeds of Success: Ryedale Out of School Education and Park House Barns Empower Youth through Food Cultivation.
The Ryedale Out of School Education (ROOSE) and Park House Barns have joined forces to empower young individuals through the enriching experience of cultivating food. They enthusiastically embraced the opportunity, undeterred by the prospect of getting their hands dirty. While food is often taken for granted, it is crucial for a healthy life, along with clothing, shelter, and care. Therefore, a grower is essentially a VIP!
In the practical outdoor classroom, the ROOSE group has diligently provided all the necessary elements for their plants' well-being. They have embarked on a journey of germinating seeds, planting, nurturing, and caring. Among their many accomplishments, the group successfully germinated beans from seeds, diligently prepared the soil by removing stubborn couch grass, and constructed supportive wigwams for the plants to climb. Furthermore, they allocated an area where they planted 40 raspberry plants and 80 lettuces, showcasing their dedication and commitment to the project.
