Claire Completes Kilimanjaro Challenge for SUDC UK
We are incredibly proud to share that Claire, one of our talented chocolatiers, successfully completed the monumental challenge of hiking to the summit of Kilimanjaro in June 2024!
This remarkable journey was entirely self-funded, ensuring that every penny raised went directly to SUDC UK, a charity that has been a tremendous support to her family in memory of their beloved son, Harry, over the past six years.
A Personal Story of Loss and Hope
Claire faced the heartbreaking loss of her son, Harry, who passed away during his afternoon nap at just 21 months old. Despite thorough investigations, medical professionals believe Harry was a victim of SUDC. Over the years, the family has navigated this profound loss while honouring Harry’s memory and raising awareness about SUDC.
In 2022, she joined a group of SUDC mothers to climb Snowdon, where she found solace and strength in the shared experience of loss. The success of that climb inspired her to take on the even greater challenge of Kilimanjaro, driven by the same sense of purpose and connection.
A Triumph for Harry and Others
This Kilimanjaro trek was not just a physical feat but a journey filled with love, remembrance, and hope. She hiked in memory of Harry and all the other children taken too soon.
We are deeply moved by her strength and determination and celebrate this incredible achievement.
